I have a moth orchid plant. After flower died I cut the steam at the second noodle. The steam now has drdied.?

What should I do in order to another steam to come out to get flowers|||If you have a healthy phal you can cut back to just above the 1st or 2nd node and it might re-bloom for you, or if your phal isn%26#039;t in the best shape, best to cut back to the base of the plant. (There%26#039;s a lot of controversy about cutting all the way back vs not) If it%26#039;s healthy and gets a cool down this fall for 3 to 4 weeks, it hopefully will produce another spike for you in January or February - unless you have a summer blooming phal! There%26#039;s tons of info out there... I%26#039;d check out:

http://www.robert-bedard.com/orchids/pha...

and take a look at the culture on phals... I believe that%26#039;s the direct link. Lots of great info there. Also, there%26#039;s a great forum at www.gardenweb.com on orchids. Lots of experienced people there. Goodluck!|||be patient it will come out new steam ,just keep watering .but next time never ever cut the orchid steam.they can come out another again and again|||Not all phals respond with a secondary spike. We don%26#039;t bother with this method because it will take energy from growing next year%26#039;s leaves.

Cut it off all the way, repot in fresh medium. It will produce a new spike after current foliage matures in autumn.
